Hello, my name is Tony, 

I am qualified therapist in Holistic massage, Sports massage therapy, on -site chair massage and Reflexology. I studied at The Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford since losing my sight back in 2009.

Massage has increased in recent years and is fast becoming a reputable and recognised therapy thanks to an increased awareness of, an interest in complementary, alternative medicine and our own well-being both psychological and physiological.    

After all massage is:

Soothing: touch is known to be soothing and comforting and massage is uses touch to sooth and relax the body. Since 75% of disease is thought to be stress related, massage which reduces stress may well improve health.

Stimulating:  the systems of the body are stimulated and activated by massage It therefore encourages improved circulation, aids digestion, waste removal and neural communication, invigorating and relaxes muscles thus preventing spasm and stiffness, speeds up skin desquamation and promotes cell regeneration. 

Instinctive: when we knock or hurt are self’s we often use are hands to rub or touch the affected place. Massage is an extension of this natural and instinctive method of soothing aches and pains.

Comforting: touch is natural and comforting. People of all ages use touch to gain a sense of security and well-being and consequently massage has psychological as well as physiological benefits.

Universal: most people from children to adults can benefit from massage treatments.

Safe: massage is a non-threatening, non- invasive and natural therapy.

Techniques used 

Muscle energy technique (MET)

Muscle energy techniques are a variety of techniques that involve restricted or resistive movements to stretch the muscle past its range of motion.

Soft tissue release (STR)

Soft tissue release combines pressure and movement. Pressure is applied to the muscle in a relaxed or shortened position .The muscle is stretched causing the fibers to lengthen and release any adhesions or stickiness.

Neuro muscular Technique (NMT)

Neuromuscular technique is a form of friction. Pressure is applied by finger or thumb over a sore point gradually increasing to the client’s pain threshold. The pressure is maintained till the pain begins to decrease. Deep pressure on a damaged area helps provoke a reflex in the nervous system which helps the muscle to relax in the area being treated.

On-site chair massage

On-site chair massage is a treatment that can be applied through the clients clothes thus making it very assessable for the work place the treatment lasts for 20 minutes and is good for relaxation, treating stress and reducing the effects of stress on the body.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a therapy that treats the feet in order to balance the whole body. Its main principle is that by massaging and applying pressure to the feet known as reflex areas, other corresponding and connecting areas of the body will feel the benefit 

In reflexology the feet and hands are like mini-maps of your body's 

Anatomy so any body system can be accessed and stimulated by the massage it relieves stress and tension and has a deep relaxing effect which also helps release trapped nervous energy and improves neural efficiency approx. 7ooo nerves are stimulated by reflexology.
