Dog owners invited to walk their canines for charity

The Forestry Commission's Salcey Forest is asking dog owners to help them raise money for stray and abandoned dogs by taking part in a sponsored walk across the forest on Sunday 2 October.

Participants can sign up to the Waggy Walks event and opt to walk the six mile Woodpecker Trail or the shorter two mile Church Path walk to raise money for the Dog’s Trust.

Forest ranger Jo Roberts said “Lots of dogs and their owners regularly enjoy walks here at Salcey Forest so we thought it would be a good way to raise money for a great cause.

“Having two trails of different lengths means people and dogs of all abilities, shapes and sizes can participate.

“It should be a brilliant day, we hope we’ll receive a lot of support from local dog owners”.
