Northampton Borough Council News Release: Thousands of free parking spaces in Northampton this Christmas

Northampton Borough Council will be making more than 8,000 free car parking spaces available for weekend shoppers this Christmas.

There will be free parking in the Mayorhold multi-storey car park all day every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas Eve. The Mayorhold has 1054 spaces.

Parking will also be free in every Northampton Borough Council car park on each of the bank holidays during the Christmas period Saturday 25 December, Sunday 26 December, Monday 27 December, Tuesday 28 December and Monday 3 January.

Councillor Trini Crake, Northampton Borough Council Cabinet member with responsibility for Town Centre Operations said: "There are so many reasons to come to Northampton this Christmas, to visit the speciality markets, see the events and street entertainment such as the Big Sing and visit the shops and stalls. I hope these free parking spaces that we are making available each weekend are a real benefit to people at this busy time of year."

Visitors this weekend can use the free spaces to join in the Christmas Big Sing, a festive sing-a-long in Abington Street from 2pm on Saturday 4 December or to visit the Frost Fair, a speciality market taking place on the Market Square between 11am and 3pm on Sunday 5 December with over 40 traders in arts, crafts and festive food.
