The Pocket Park Group is proud to announce that Ashwood Acre (Hartwell Pocket Park) is one of four pocket parks in Northants to receive the Green Flag Community Award for 2011/12.
The Pocket Park Group is proud to announce that Ashwood Acre (Hartwell Pocket Park) is one of four pocket parks in Northants to receive the Green Flag Community Award for 2011/12. This means that the park has been judged to meet the criteria for the award as a well managed, welcoming place valued by the local community.
The Green Flag Award is a national scheme designed to improve standards of green spaces nationwide. Parks with the Green Flag award range from small local community run parks like ours right through to major London parks. This year 1,288 parks have received a Green Flag award. Across the country there are about 30,000 green spaces so our park is judged to be in the top 5%. We are proud to have achieved this award.
We would like to thank the many local people who have worked hard over the last four years to turn an empty field next to the village cemetery into a pleasant open space, attractive to wildlife and visitors alike. The award is truly a community achievement.
