Hartwell: Community Speed Watch meeting

Published on 8th January 2010 11:11am

This news relates to South Northants Police

A presentation about the Community Speed Watch project will take place in Hartwell on Tuesday 2 February

The presentation will take place during the parish council meeting from 7.30pm at the community centre on School Lane in Hartwell.

PC John Mcquaid and Beth Milne from Northamptonshire ACRE will outline the project during the meeting.

Community Speed Watch is a partnership initiative, using the combined efforts of local residents, parish councils, Northamptonshire Casualty Reduction Partnership and Northamptonshire ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England).

By working together, Community Speed Watch enables local people to become actively involved in helping to raise awareness of speeding traffic in rural Northamptonshire. Members of the community are trained in the use of hand-held speed monitoring devices to track the speed of motorists in 30mph zones within their parish. Northamptonshire Police then send out warning letters to the drivers who are found to have been speeding and the parish receives year-round support from various Police and County Council initiatives.

For further information about the scheme, contact Beth Milne on 01604 765888 or visit www.northantsacre.org.uk or www.northants.police.uk
