Hartwell resident to walk 177 miles in aid of MS

This news relates to Hartwell Community Website

In April, Phil Sorrell is embarking on a 13 day challenge to walk the 177 mile Offa's Dyke National Trail in aid of The Multiple Sclerosis Society

From 5th April, Phil Sorrell (who runs hartwellvillage.com), his dog, and Alex South (who formerly lived in Northampton) are embarking on a 13 day challenge to walk the 177 mile Offa's Dyke National Trail in aid of The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

This will be a massive physical challenge for us - 13 days of walking with full packs and camping every night.

Offa's Dyke is a walk which weaves in and out of the England-Wales border, from Prestatyn on the North Wales coast to Chepstow on the Severn Estuary. Offa's Dyke is Britain's largest man-made monument - built by Offa, King of Mercia from 757 to 796 AD to try and create a boundary between his kingdom and the independent Welsh kingdoms.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition which affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing problems with muscle control, vision and balance, and is the most common disability neurological condition affecting young adults. Around 100,000 people in the UK are affected by MS.

The MS Society funds MS research, runs respite care centres, provides grants, education and training on MS. You can find out more about the MS Society at www.mssociety.org.uk
