Local Wildlife Group receive £500 from BP Oil.

This news relates to Wildlife Trust BCNP Towcester Group

At the latest meeting of the Wildlife Trust's Towcester Local Group a presentation was made to group chairman David Reed for £500 pounds in garden centre vouchers.

At the latest meeting of the Wildlife Trust's Towcester Local Group a presentation was made to group chairman David Reed for £500 pounds in garden centre vouchers. The very generous donation came from BP Oil and was presented by BP Oil employee Karen Quinney, who is also a Towcester resident.

The money will help the Wildlife Trust Towcester Branch to improve the environment in and around Towcester, by enabling the group to purchase trees and plants for the areas on the water meadows, or other local sites, where they are needed.

Derek Watling, who was Karen's manager at BP Oil, explained how the funding was raised as part of a Driver Awareness scheme at BP. The idea of the scheme was a competition for the many BP tanker drivers nationally to improve awareness of safe driving practices and also environmental issues, resulting in a 2 day family event at Rockingham. The event was a great success as a result of Karen's hard work.

David Reed presented both& Karen and Derek with 2010 calendars, produced by local group for additional fund raising, as a gift for all their hard work and generosity.

For more information about the local Towcester group of the Wildlife Trust BCNP, please contact chairman David Reed on 01327 352414, or secretary Nick Holder on 01327 352647.
