Northants Police and Partners sign up to Operation Guardian

Police in the county are strengthening relationships with local crime and disorder partnerships throughout Northamptonshire to reduce serious acquisitive crime, which is house burglary, vehicle crime and robbery.

Operation Guardian brings together Northamptonshire Police, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, and Safer Stronger Partnerships in a concerted bid to drive down crime.

These partnerships will develop joint initiatives and campaigns to tackle the causes of crime, rather than just responding to the symptoms. All of these initiatives and campaigns will be branded under Operation Guardian.

The operation will be not only safeguarding you, but also your home and your vehicle; targeting those areas in the county where crime is at its highest.

The partnerships will be tackling the local conditions that allow crime to occur and potential victims of crime will be provided with crime prevention messages to reduce the likelihood of them becoming a victim.

Offenders will be supported by the development of a countywide Integrated Offender Management structure, which will both challenge and support offenders with activity seeking to deter and divert people from criminality.

Offenders who are unreceptive to support will be subjected to extensive enforcement and disruption by the police and partners.

Increased emphasis will be placed on gathering intelligence about prolific thieves, checking their whereabouts and letting them know that they are being watched.

Northamptonshire Police will be acting rapidly to arrest people who fall under suspicion of involvement in these crimes. Officers and staff will also call at houses around the area where a burglary has occurred to look for information and pass on warnings and crime prevention advice.

Police will be utilising social networking opportunities through Facebook and Twitter to keep members of the public updated about Operation Guardian.
