Planned power interruption in the local area

Published on 9th February 2010 1:02pm

This news relates to Hartwell Village (General)

Eon have a planned power interruption planned on Tuesday 16th Feb between 8.30am and 5pm

Eon have notified local residents of a temporary interruption to the local electricity supply to carry out essential work in the area.

This affects not just residents of Hartwell, but the whole local area (unfortunately we don't know exactly which villages are affected).

If you need any more information, you can contact Michael Balac on 07836669711 quoting reference number 147061-s

What to do before the supply is switched off

  • Electrically powered medical equipment - contact your medical advisor or GP for advice
  • Fridges and freezers - turn the temperature to the coldest setting 12 hours before the supply is due to go off and keep the door closed.
  • Appliances - switch off and unplug sensitive appliances such as computers, satellite receives, DVD players, TVs etc.
  • Lights - leave one light switched on so you are aware when the supply is restored.
  • Burglar alarms - they are usually equipped with a battery backup, so they should work while the electricity is off.
  • Telephones - cordless telephones will not work during a power but, so keep a corded telephone or mobile handy.
  • Prepare hot drinks in a vacuum flask.
  • If necessary, use a torch or candles for light - but remember to not leave candles unattended.

I have just phoned Mr Balac and he has told me that it is only residents that have received a card saying that the power will be turned off will actually have their power turned off - if you have not received a card then you should be OK. Fingers crossed!

I hope this helps.
