SNC Reviews Council Tax Discount

This news relates to Hartwell Parish Council
Single person discount
South Northamptonshire Council is reminding residents who live alone that they are eligible for a 25% single person discount.
We are also asking residents who currently claim this discount to update us if their circumstances have changed. In order to ensure that all residents can claim any benefits that they are entitled to, we are reviewing the 9,000 households in South Northamptonshire that currently claim the single person discount.
Residents wishing to provide updated information about their Single Person Discount are requested to do so before 15 November, when the review will commence. Anyone claiming the discount incorrectly and who doesn’t tell the Council about any changes may face a fine.
Ian McCord, Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: “The review is part of a move to ensure fairness to those correctly claiming the discount, and to enable the best possible services for residents. It’s also aimed at helping those who may be entitled to other benefits or discounts that they are not presently aware of.”
